It’s Not the Most Recent Article on Racial Gaps in School Arrests that Is Surprising but…

This Washington Post article on racial gaps in school arrests popped up in my Facebook feed, and while anyone who studies the state of public schools today would not be shocked by the results in this study, there was something that I found puzzling.

Tucked into one of the last sections of the article was this statement: “Racial disparities in suspensions have been tracked by researchers for years. Experts say there are no studies to show that differences in behavior cause the gap between blacks and whites. Exactly why the gap exists is unclear.”

Really?  Is it so unclear why the gap exists?

What do you all think?
