This weekend, a group of educators, community members, and activists will gather at Madison High School for a series of workshops related to social justice teaching in classrooms K-12 and beyond at the NW Teachers for Social Justice Conference.
If you loved the latest issue of Rethinking Schools and its moving local articles (Christensen’s “The Tulsa Race Riots” and Johnson’s piece on teaching her elementary students about redlining), you will be inspired and energized by this conference. If you care about educational equity and ways of connecting students to civic engagement, you should definitely attend!
The fee is $5.00 for students and $30.00 for teachers. The workshop list is extensive. Hope to see you there.
