MLK Day and Beyond

While we had planned a community “read in” to honor Dr. King, we had to postpone due to one kid coming down with a fever.  Ah, parenting.  But we are still celebrating and honoring him and all of those who fight and continue to fight in the Civil Rights Movement. Let’s pledge to keep active and and keep learning not only today and through Black History Month but 365 days a year.
Here are some resources I found useful in thinking about celebrating this holiday (and beyond) within a social justice framework:

(1)Dos & Don’t of Celebrating MLK Jr. Day with Young Children

(2)Teaching Tolerance Resources on MLK Jr. Day and Beyond

Please check back here for more resources as we head into Black History Month and continue this work throughout the year!
